Long-distance move from Montreal, QC to Edmonton, AB

Dr. Haynes

Please do not use these movers. They may appear to be giving you the best deal but it is a scam to get you to sign. They agreed to move my items from Montreal to Edmonton for a price, then once they got my shipment in their possession they increased the price on me. When I refused to pay, they held my items for a year at ransom. Then they turned my shipment over to another partner who threatened to sell my stuff if I did not pay. It was a total shake down. Had to take them to court to get my shipment back and lost much of my items due to bad storage conditions which includes broke crates and extensive damage caused by rats. Remember, you get what you pay for - I learned the hard way!

Do Not Use.

This company is a scam. They hold your things hostage and demand upfront payment. They quoted me $1600.00 for my move and once my belongings had left and we’re at their warehouse, they sent me an invoice for $5000 demanding immediate payment and backdating their invoice to before they picked up my belongings. I have contacted the police and they are investigating.

Long-distance move from Whitecourt, AB to Innisfil, ON

Relocation.

I moved from Alberta to Ontario at the beginning of the year and had called a couple van lines to get quotes, but right from the beginning Access Canada movers stood out - the woman that I talked to in the office were very friendly and immediately put all my fears about the moving process to rest. The people who came to load my items were quick and professional and the two young men who unloaded for me in Ontario were friendly and helpful - they stayed late to make sure all of my furniture was reassembled. Not a single item was lost or broken along the way!

Long-distance move from Ontario to Nova Scotia

Scam. Stay away.

One star is too high a rating. I have moved numerous times and this was the worst Moving company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The truck they sent to pick up my furniture was too small to pick up all my belongings. This became apparent at 12:30 Saturday morning and the driver could not get a hold of anyone to correct the problem. We finally got a hold of someone on Monday morning but they would not be able to pick up the rest of our furniture for 3 days. This was only the beginning. Once they had our furniture they would not deliver it until we paid the invoice in full. We ended up with broken chairs, tables and even though wrapped in bubble wrap smashed antique dishes. Tool boxes were broken into and numerous tools stolen to say nothing of my very expensive dolly that looked just like the one they used to unload.
This company is a scam that is just out to steal your money and once they have your possessions do not give a dam.

This is a consumer alert, stay away from Access Canada Movers they are a scam!!

Double Bill.

We contracted this company for a Toronto to BC move. Final weight was over by 400 pounds and we were told the shipment had to be paid in full before departure. Paid their invoice and waited 4 weeks for the call it had arrived. Then the driver who kept telling my daughter that he hated his job informed that there would be a $250 charge to go on the elevator to the 3rd floor.
In addition they charged her credit card for the identical amount I was originally charged so we got screwed for paying twice.

The dispute has been lodged with the credit card company and we will be credited for one of the charges but what a pain. Wish I had done more research into these criminals before allowing pick-up.

Long-distance move from Toronto, ON to Montreal, QC

Terrible administration.

Access Canada Movers responded to an enquiry I sent to a general website which provides quotes for movers. The phone response from Access Canada Movers was almost instantaneous. They quoted a low price and arranged a collection date on the spot. This seemed too easy – and it was.

When the invoice was emailed to me, it was for an amount higher than what I was quoted. I had to call and ask for this invoice to be revised to what I had been quoted when I booked.

The collection team arrived exactly on time and were efficient at packing. I give full credit to this team. My goods went into storage.

Within a few weeks I received an invoice for the full amount of the moving costs when my goods had not even been delivered. I responded to this email to query whether it should be paid once my goods were actually delivered but received no response to this email.

I contacted Access Canada Movers a few weeks later to ask when my goods had to be delivered and could they provide the weigh receipt for the volume of goods I was charged to store. Again, no response to this email.

I followed up again a week later and left a phone message. No response.

I then got another email from Access Canada Movers saying I now owed $100 more because my goods had been stored for longer than their initial storage period. I contacted them to try to arrange the delivery date and again, no response.

When I eventually got in contact with Access Canada Movers to have my goods delivered, they said they would revise my emails about the surcharge and booked a date for delivery of the goods. On the afternoon before my goods were delivered, while I was home sick and about to fly internationally for a medical appointment where I would be away for two weeks (and therefore needed the goods delivered before I left), I received a call from Access Canada Movers to say that notwithstanding the emails, they would not deliver any of my goods until I paid the extra amount. Pretty awful treatment really. The full amount was paid at that time by credit card.

At 6am the next morning, in the snow and rain, I stood for 30 mins while the delivery person sat in the cab of his truck verifying my payment. He was not able to verify the payment so took the ENTIRE payment again.

The delivery team moved all goods well and there was no damage to the property whatsoever.

My experience with the Access Canada Movers administration was so bad that the entire experience was awful and I paid almost double what was quoted to me. I would not recommend this provider. I have only positive feedback about the movers themselves.

Long-distance move from Vancouver, BC to Toronto, ON

My Move.

My friends had moved with Access Canada Movers and had no issue, When I was planning to move they gave me a number to get in touch with Marc who was their sales agent. I gave him a call to see what the price would be to move from Vancouver to Toronto. After discussing what I was moving, he gave me a great price. When the movers showed up they were very polite and respectful towards me. Even their customer service reps were great, any question I had they were giving me answers. When they got to my home in Toronto their local drivers were Wonderful. I had no issue with my move, If in the near future I decide to move again I will be contacting Marc again.

Long-distance move from Halifax, NS to Medicine Hat, AB

Nova scotia to Alberta.

My daughter had a very small move and we knew all about shady movers so we actually weighed the shipment ahead of time. headboard, rails, mattress , box spring , dresser and 2 boxes. the boxes weighed 35 and 45 lbs. total less than 300 lbs. I advised we had 500 lbs and was quoted $600. we paid the $200 deposit and moved all the items into the garage so we wouldn't get a "stair" charge. they picked up and left with the stuff as scheduled. A week or so later we recieved the final invoice for over $900 more including a $100 long carry charge as they didn't back the truck in the driveway but left it on the street. they advised they had scaled the load at over 900 lbs. I of course called the office and got no sympathy at all even when I explained I knew exactly what the weight was because I had weighed it. They are very good at explaining why you are wrong and offering to have the load rescaled for hundreds of dollars in additional costs. It was a cheap bedroom set and easily replaced and I would have let them keep the whole load except there were some things in the boxes that were important to my kid. In the end they deducted $200 from the bill and we paid the additional charges of over $300. They are professionals at what they do and will hold your items hostage until you pay them. Office staff is well trained at spewing reasons why you are wrong and too bad for you, pay up or we'll start charging you storage.
Notice they do not have an address on the website and the address on the invoice doesn't exist. So they will move your stuff but you better be prepared to pay way more than the quote and endure some grief.
